Occupational Therapist | Acute Care

Position Summary

Interior Health Occupational Therapists work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team providing occupational therapy services and guiding work direction to rehabilitation assistant(s). We have a permanent, part-time opening available at Royal Inland Hospital (RIH). Schedule is Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 08:00 to 16:00 hours.

What will you work on?

RIH’s Occupational Therapy Department supports Acute Care Inpatients (i.e. medical, orthopedics, and trauma), Outpatients, Stroke Unit, Rehab Unit, Hand Therapy Program, and Acute Mental Health. This Occupational Therapist position is within Acute Care providing patients/clients with patient-centred, holistic care.

How will you create impact?

Royal Inland Hospital serves the City of Kamloops and outlying rural areas. Working within a tertiary hospital helping in access and flow with very supportive rehab team. A broad scope of patients are seen; there is a little bit of everything including pediatrics. Team members work closely together to meet the patients’ needs.

How will we help you grow?

Provide you with an orientation customized to meet your needs, and immediate support and access from excellent colleagues and the Occupational Therapy Professional Practice Leader. During your Physiotherapist career working in the tertiary acute care setting you will grow in abilities as you get exposed to every diagnosis. We do the full scope and you’ll get to experience everything. Library Services to support patient care, education and research are available. Educational opportunities, such as iLearns, in-house services, project assignments, etc.

Who are we looking for?

This position is suitable for a new grad or a seasoned therapist. We are seeking an Occupational Therapist who works well within the team but also able to work independently with good people and communication skills. Ability to coach and educate clients. Willing to learn new skills.

Graduation from a recognized occupational therapy program.
Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC). Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists or British Columbia Society of Occupational Therapists.
Valid BC Driver’s license.
