Registered Nurse | Mental Health and Substance Use

Position Summary

Do you consider yourself a seasoned and resilient Mental Health Nurse with excellent communication and team skills? If so, then consider working with our Mental Health team where everyone is valued within a multi-disciplinary team environment! We currently have a casual opportunity available.

Located in Nelson, B.C. McKim Cottage provides many services including adult community support, adult short-term assessment and treatment, community residential programs, geriatric programs, crisis intervention, day and outpatient programs, addictions counselling, concurrent disorders services, group therapy, peer support, and after-hours mental health support.

The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse provides: nursing care to psychiatric patients, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team; enhances quality of life for the patient and family; consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers; demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence based practice in nursing practice; maintains and advances own clinical competence; participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.

Shifts of work are of a casual nature and may be scheduled between Monday to Friday; 08:00 – 14:16 hours.

Qualifications

Graduation from an approved school of nursing.

Two years’ recent related experience in a mental health and addictions environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
