Position Summary
We have a permanent part-time opening for a confident and experienced Shift Coordinator, Registered Nurse DC2 with a solid acute care leadership background to join our team at the Kelowna General Hospital. Days of work are rotating and shift times are 07:15 to 19:15 & 19:00 to 07:00.
As the Shift Coordinator you will be responsible for access and flow, patient placement, bed utilization and staffing during weekends, evening and night shifts. You will act as a clinical resource to staff in resolving problems regarding patient care, staffing levels and bed utilization. You will have accountability for ensuring excellence in the provision of patient centered care throughout the hospital on assigned shift.
Ideally we are seeking an applicant who has recent experience in a supervisory capacity in an acute healthcare setting of a similar size and complexity to our 400+ bed, tertiary level hospital in Kelowna. Additionally, we are looking for someone who has honed their acute care nursing skills, who excels at problem solving and making effective decisions under pressure and can take action in a front line leadership position whilst maintaining excellent communication with patients, colleagues and other healthcare professionals.

Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
-Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
-Three years’ recent related clinical experience and two years’ of recent supervisory experience in a complex health care environment. Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
-Current CPR certificate.
