Are you an experienced Nurse who has a passion for emergency nursing and a love for rural nursing? If yes, then our South Similkameen Health Centre is the place for you!
Our Emergency department is open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 6pm and services the surrounding population of approximately 5,000 people. There are no acute care beds on site; however the closest acute care hospital is located nearby in Penticton only 47 kilometers away.
Keremeos has 2 ER stretchers and is responsible for stabilizing patients for transfer to Penticton. The site includes a physician office group of 5 physicians and one is on call for the ER. The nurses responsibility is the ER first and then helping out in the physician’s offices when not busy. The ER has no overnight beds. As the sole RN on shift, you will work autonomously and collaboratively with the Physician to deliver excellence in patient centered care. After hours and on Sundays the Physician is on call. The nurse works until 6pm as it is often needed to finish up sending clients to Penticton and re-ordering medications etc. There is a Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, and Lab available on day shift for a portion of the week.
Keremeos is a vibrant, agricultural community located in the beautiful Similkameen Valley of British Columbia. The valley area is home to many ranches, orchards and wineries due to its year round mild, dry climate with long hot summers! Whether you like to swim in the fresh, clean waters of the Similkameen River, take a leisurely rafting trip, hike or bike through stunning scenery – Keremeos has it all!
