Position Summary
Medical Lab Technologist (MLT) opportunity available now at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital (EKH) in Cranbrook, B.C. This is a relief part-time 0.70fte position available until the return of the current incumbent. Days of work are rotating and shifts are days and evenings.
What will you work on
As an MLT, you will work in a team-based environment and perform a variety of duties within Microbiology and related departments. Typical duties may include performing routine and/or complex tests utilizing manual procedures and automated instruments including PCR testing, receiving specimens, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and validating/reporting test results.
About this location
EKH is a 75 bed acute care hospital with a medium size Laboratory offering Core Lab, Microbiology, Histo, Pathology, collections and accession services. It is considered a regional referral site for selected testing and there are 30 Medical Technologists and 25 Med Lab Assistants employed in various disciplines.
Situated in the southeastern corner of British Columbia, Cranbrook is the business capital and largest city in the Rocky Mountain Region and is an easy drive to Alberta and the US. Qualifications
Graduation from an approved Medical Laboratory Science Program
Current certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and eligible for membership with the BC Society of Laboratory Sciences (BCSLS) and/or CSMLS
One (1) year recent related experience
