Position Summary
We have an amazing opportunity for a critical care float nurse who will work in both the ICU and ER teams at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
The VJH Critcal Care Unit current consists of 10 beds with room for expansion to 16 beds. The new space offers a large, bright working area with wide halls, and lots of storage areas with windows surrounding the whole unit. The new unit was designed to focus on the family unit as a whole being and the new ICU has three family areas; a waiting room, a quiet room and a family overnight room, the natural light and the private rooms make for a positive experience for patients and family members. Our new decentralized model moves the nurse and services right to the patients bedside in satellite stations and provides access by all users, in a quiet, soothing experience that is reassuring to patients, families, and visitors. The decentralized room provides optimal patient privacy and enhances private family interactions with patient, nurse and physician and other allied team members such as social workers, clerical staff, physiotherapists, dieticians and respiratory therapists.
The VJH Emergency department offers 26 beds plus two trauma rooms and two secure rooms and is located in the new Polson Tower. Our bright, spacious ED has been developed with consideration for privacy, confidentiality, infection control measures and features state-of-the-art technology in equipment (i.e. cardiac monitoring, diagnostic imaging in our trauma room, negative pressure isolation rooms), communication devices (Vocera, nurse call system), and other care delivery processes (pneumatic tube system, Rapid Assessment Zone, and Minor Treatment Area).

Qualifications
• Graduation as a Registered Nurse from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
• Combined Critical Care/Emergency – Advanced preparation in a critical care and emergency clinical specialty and 2 years related clinical experience aligned with unit specific competencies or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 3 years.
