We are hiring Casual Administrative Services Assistants throughout the Kootenay Boundary Region. There is something for you in any one of these great communities:

Situated between the Selkirk and Purcell mountain ranges, the Kootenay Boundary area is home to just under 80,000 people. Residents enjoy glacier-fed lakes, majestic vistas, natural hot springs, a temperate climate and vibrant communities. Recreation is important to life in the Kootenay Boundary. In winter, the ski areas provide downhill, cross-country and heli-skiing. In summer, the area is famous for mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, waterskiing, fishing, boating and golf.

Who Are We Looking For?
We are seeking individuals with experience working in a variety of industries willing to bring their transferrable skills to Interior Health. These are casual opportunities. Casual employment means work requirements can vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week. Casual employees receive 10.2% of their straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays.

Upon completion of 180 hours, there is option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans. Casual employment includes: short-notice, on-call availability; workload coverage during a temporary absence; and/or providing relief coverage in a specific position. Once hired into a casual role, employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent part-time or full time positions. There are many opportunities with Interior Health that begin with casual positions and lead to regular employment.

What Will You Work On?
In this role you will perform a variety of reception, administrative and Health Unite Aide support duties including:
• data entry
• gathering, organizing, collecting, collating and verifying information,
• typing correspondence and agendas
• arranging meetings
• performing reception duties
• record management

You will also be responsible for:
• scheduling and confirming client appointments
• receiving, recording and checking balances of transactions

Clinical support for this role may includes:
• Disinfecting hard surfaces
• calibrating equipment
• vision screenings
• delivering supplies and biologicals

You may also work with clients who may be confused, anxious, angry or difficult.

What should your application include?
-A current Typing Test 40 wpm or greater completed within past 48 months from a recognized institution;
-An Office Administration Certificate; *or equivalent experience
-A current valid BC Driver’s License;

Qualifications

Education, Training & Experience
• Grade 12
• Graduation from a recognized Office Administration Certificate Program, Plus
• One years recent related experience, Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Completion of a Typing Test at 40 wpm dated within the past 48 months and must be issued from a valid institution only. (NON-SUPERVISED TESTS ARE NOT ACCEPTED)
• Current valid BC Driver's License

*Equivalent experience may include one year or more working in an administrative, healthcare related, customer service or retail environment.
