Registered Nurse | Mental Health and Substance Use

Position Summary

We have exciting casual opportunities for experienced Registered Nurses or Registered Psychiatric Nurses to join our Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) team at the Penticton Health Centre.

Who are we looking for?


The successful applicant may be asked to support various teams in an integrated mental health and substance use service working with adults.

The RN/RPN will need to have experience providing brief mental health and substance use assessments of clients in crisis, and work in a variety of settings such as office based, community based and in hospital. We are seeking candidates with flexibility, critical thinking skills and an ability to collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team.

What will you work on?

As the MHSU Nurse, you will ensure that persons with serious severe and persistent mental health problems and/or problematic substance use who may or may not be in crisis have access to timely, responsive, evidence-based treatment. You will provide assessment, treatment, case management, community support, and as required, urgent response to clients who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life. Functioning as the primary clinician, you will utilize a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families.

Shifts are rotating; times are from 09:00 to 20:13, 11:47 to 23:00 hours.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:

Graduation from an approved school of nursing with Two years’ of recent related Mental Health & Substance Use experience.

Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Current valid B.C. driver’s license
