Position Summary

Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) is a referral centre for three community hospitals and one diagnostic centre in the South Okanagan. We have an operating capacity of 129 acute beds and offer a full range of services.

The successful candidate will have the ability to pick up additional shifts in the PARR in Summerland.

This is a relief part time (0.56 FTE) position until October 15, 2023 or return of incumbent. This position works rotating day and evening shifts. Overnight on-call is attached to the evening shifts.

Post Anesthetic Recovery has 12 bays and Perioperative Services has 4 operating theatres and provides core services for Orthopedics, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, ENT and Urology. Our PARR nurses have a similar skill set to other Critical Care Nurses but have a knowledge which focuses on anesthesia agents and techniques along with an acute understanding of intraoperative and postoperative sedation and analgesia including spinal and epidural anesthesia. The nurses work day and evening shifts with a shift length of 8 hours. There is on-call associated with the evening shift.

Qualifications

Graduation as a Registered Nurse from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of the assigned area (perianesthesia or critical care nursing) and one year recent related clinical experience in the assigned practice environment on a post anesthetic room or critical care environment similar in size and scope to the facility or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
