East Kootenay Regional Hospital (EKRH) has a permanent, part time Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) opening. As a leader of an integrated surgical team, the Operating Room Patient Care Coordinator coordinates patient care and supervises nursing staff.

The PCC is responsible for the coordination of day-to-day operations and quality patient care within the East Kootenay Regional Hospital (EKRH) Operating Room. This position supports the seamless movement of patients ensuring referrals are made in a timely fashion and ensuring patients are linked with appropriate community supports and resources. It is a role that guides nursing staff in the clinical decision-making process regarding patient care and discharge/ transfer preparations. It provides direct patient care by completing comprehensive assessments, planning and implementing health care interventions.

EKRH’s Operating Room is a four OR theatre department with a small, cohesive team and offers a great working environment. Surgical procedures consist of ENT, Gyne, General, Urology, Orthopedics, and Dental. Both licensed practical nurses and registered nurses support surgeons and specialists. Days of work are rotating within a 06:45 to 15:15 hour schedule.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of the assigned area, three years of recent related clinical experience in the assigned practice environment and two years recent supervisory and teaching experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Current CPR certification required
