Position Summary
We are seeking a Rehabilitation Assistant to join our cohesive Rehabilitation team at the South Okanagan General Hospital (SOG) in Oliver, B.C. Shifts are Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:00 hours. This is a relief full time position until the return of the incumbent (unknown).
What Will You Work On?
You will be part of a team of clinicians working across the spectrum in Acute Care (i.e. South Okanagan General Hospital) and Long Term Care facilities of McKinney Place and Sunnybank Centre. Seeing clients in acute care to assist Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists to get clients up and going in the morning, practicing ADL’s, working on UE and cognitive work, doing exercises, practicing mobility as well as supporting feeding and communication treatments to maximize a person’s independence to hopefully be able to go home.
This position rotates monthly or as required by workload between South Okanagan General Hospital (SOG) and McKinney Place (MKP).
How Will You Create Impact?
The Rehabilitation Assistant is an intrical member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team and is encouraged to work at top of scope. In this role the Rehabilitation Assistant engages with regular therapeutic inventions and is the eyes and ears of the rehab team. Your input is very valuable in determining adjustments needs for rehab programming or client readiness to move forward.
How Will We Help You Grow?
All new staff are assigned mandatory learning through our online system. A robust orientation three to five days including introduction to therapists. In-services for education and skill development. All staff are mentored by those on their team and have available support through their Professional Practice Leader. As well as the larger Rehabilitation team.

Upon completion of 180 hours, there is option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans. When the employee occupies the position for 6 months or longer, entitlement to the reimbursement for benefits and enrollment in the benefit plan will be at the expense of the employer.
Effective April 1, 2023, hourly rate of pay is $30.06 per hour.
Qualifications
Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program. Valid Driver’s License as required.
