Interior Health invites Speech Language Pathologist applicants to consider joining our East Kootenay Adult Speech Language Team in beautiful and sunny Cranbrook B.C. We have a permanent full time Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Position with our acute care team, at East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
What Will You Work On?
Along with our dynamic and dedicated full time SLP, casual SLP’s, and Rehabilitation Assistant, you would join these caring professionals as an autonomous professional who has expertise in typical development and disorders of communication/swallowing as well as assessment and intervention in these areas. The Speech-Language Pathologist will work directly with clients and/or with their caregivers or other persons who regularly interact with these people for the purpose of creating environments that promote optimal communication and swallowing for adults requiring this care. The Speech-Language Pathologist contributes to the organization and the overall goals of the department/program quality assurance initiatives, meetings, research and education.
Days of work are weekdays 08:00 to 16:00 hours Monday to Friday.

We have a very collaborative team in Interior Health’s SLP Program. The SLP will receive support from the Professional Practice Leader (PPL), mentorship from SLPs working on-site, as well as have many opportunities to interact with other SLP colleagues across Interior Health both through informal and formal means such as participating in The SLP Professional Practice Council.
Who Are We Looking For?
We are looking for an SLP with experience/preference for working with acute inpatients and also some outpatient work. The SLP will have excellent oral and written communication abilities & be able to connect with people from all types of backgrounds. The SLP will be creative in supporting clients’ goals while adhering to program guidelines and will be an active and engaged team member, able to respectfully communicate and resolve conflict in a timely manner.

Registration as a Speech-Language Pathologist with The College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of B.C.
Preference will be given to candidates with one or more year’s clinical experience working in acute care with adults who have had dysphagia and communication issues; or who have had an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. New grads are also welcome to apply.
Valid BC Driver’s license where required.
