Community Respiratory Therapist

Position Summary

Interior Health’s Kelowna Urgent and Primary Care Centre (UPCC) invites applications for the role of Community Respiratory Therapist. Kelowna UPCC is looking for knowledgeable Community Respiratory Therapists with experience delivering Respiratory Therapy services and programs related to the promotion of respiratory heath; assessment, education, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with respiratory dysfunction; communicating and demonstrating community and hospital based respiratory care procedures; and the use of respiratory equipment or special procedures.

This position is a relief full time position providing coverage until the return of the incumbent. This position works rotating day/evening shifts from 09:00 to 21:00.

As a member of the Kelowna UPCC, you will perform patient and environment assessment for adult and pediatric patients with respiratory dysfunction and provide information, recommendations, and advice regarding the selection and use of respiratory equipment and/or specialized respiratory care, in the home or in a community care facility setting. Reporting to the Professional Practice Leader you will draw upon your ability to assist Respirologists, Specialists, Physicians, Acute and Community Nurses, private sector Respiratory Equipment Companies, and other Health Care Providers with the care planning, discharge planning, follow-up, and support of respiratory patients who are frequently admitted to hospital, who require complex care strategies, or who require oxygen.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized program in Respiratory Therapy.
• Two years’ recent experience in pulmonary rehabilitation, asthma education, respiratory home care, home ventilation, home oxygen, and sleep disordered breathing screening.
• Current certification with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) and eligible for registration with the British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT) and CSRT.
• Current valid BC driver’s license.
