Registered Nurse | Emergency/Critical Care

Position Summary

We are seeking qualified Critical Care or Emergency Nurses to become members of our Emergency team at Shuswap Lake Hospital in Salmon Arm, B.C.

Our department consists of 14 beds, including general treatment bays, six monitored beds, two trauma bays, a negative pressure room, and a secure room. The Emergency department receives approximately 26,000 visits per year and offers state-of-the-art equipment including a new Space Labs Cardiac Monitoring System, and a Procedural Cart System. This system was designed to make all treatment area’s multi-purpose by bringing the service needed directly to the patient.

This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements may vary from 0 - 37.5 hours per week. Casual employment includes: short-notice, on-call availability; workload coverage during a temporary absence; and/or providing relief coverage in a specific position. Once hired into a casual role, employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent part-time or full time positions. Qualifications

Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the
British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Advanced preparation in a critical care or emergency clinical specialty and 2 years related clinical experience aligned with unit specific competencies or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and ACLS within 2 years.

TNCC/EPICC, and ENPC would be an asset.
