Medical Lab Assistant

Position Summary

We are seeking reliable and motivated Medical Lab Assistants to join our cohesive Lab team within the friendly community of Ashcroft, BC. Shifts available Monday to Friday 08:00-16:00 on a casual as needed basis. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internally posted positions including temporary and permanent positions. The Laboratory Assistant performs a variety of duties within the site, such as taking blood samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine lab tests, distributing specimens within the Core Lab and outside Laboratories, operating related equipment, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and performing related clerical duties. Performs ECG testing as required.

Ashcroft Hospital and Community Health Care Centre does not have acute care beds, but provides: basic laboratory and radiology; urgent care; outpatient ambulatory care; community services; long term residential care services; and on-site doctors’ offices.

Qualifications

Grade 12
Successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program
One year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Valid BC Driver’s License as required
Ability to type 25 WPM *please upload a copy of an invigilated typing test dated within the last 48mths. Please note we do not accept self-administered online tests*
