Recreation Therapy Worker

Position Summary

We are presently hiring and looking for new team members to join our Recreation Therapy team at Fischer Place/Mill Site in 100 Mile House.

Effective April 1, 2023, hourly rate of pay is $28.74 per hour.

A strong candidate will have completed a Certificate from a recognized recreation therapy program and hold a Class IV BC Driver’s License.

Working within a client centered model, the Recreation Therapy Worker works as a member of the interdisciplinary team and is responsible for the implementation and evaluation of an established Recreation Therapy Program.

As the Recreation Therapy Worker you will be primarily working with geriatric residents. This position plans programs and assists in getting residents to/from their programs. Staff go on outings with the residents, facilitate groups specific to the needs of the residents (i.e. social, physical, spiritual, etc.), and one-to-one programs.

Once hired into a casual role, employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent part-time or full time positions. There are many opportunities with Interior Health that begin with casual on-call positions and lead to regular employment. Shifts of work may be any day of the week, with shift times of 08:00 to 16:00, 08:30 to 16:30, 09:00 to 17:00, 12:15 to 19:30, or 11:30 to 19:30.

Qualifications

• Grade 12, completion of a recognized recreation course(s) plus two year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Valid class 4 vehicle license as required
