Registered Nurse | Endoscopy

Position Summary

Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) is looking to build its Casual Endoscopy Clinic Registered Nurse pool and is inviting RNs with previous GI endoscopy experience or have graduated with a GI Nursing Certification.

The Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) is a 140-bed Acute Care and 102 extended care bed facility in the Okanagan Health Service Area and responsible for providing core medical and surgical specialty services to surrounding population of approximately 90,000 people. The 84-bed David E. Kampe Tower opened in April 2019 offering a new Ambulatory Care Centre that includes cardiology, neurology, orthopedics, respiratory, pre-surgical screening and maternal clinics. Surgical Services include five operating rooms, with two more theatres for future expansion, three minor procedure rooms, two endoscopy rooms and a cystoscopy room.

Casual employment means work requirements can vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week. Shifts when scheduled will be Monday to Friday Days with the position required to take weekend on call from Friday at 17:00 until Monday at 07:30 including stat holidays. Approximately one weekend out of six.

Casual employees receive 12.6% of their straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, there is option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans.

•Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
•Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of Endoscopy - Certification in gastro intestinal (GI) Nursing and a minimum of two years recent, related clinical experience in the assigned practice environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
