Rehabilitation Assistant | Physiotherapy

Position Summary

We are seeking Rehabilitation Assistants to join our cohesive Kelowna General Hospital and Central Okanagan Physiotherapy team. Shifts are rotating through a 7 day workweek and scheduled during the Day. Casual employment means work requirements can vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week. Casual employees receive 12.6% of their straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, there is option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans.

What Will You Work On?
You will be part of a team of clinicians working across the spectrum, from Acute and Critical Care to inpatient or slow stream Rehab, and Outpatients. Clients are seen either at Kelowna General Hospital or our Short Stay site (slow stream Rehab) Cottonwoods. Day-to-day duties include helping implement Physio designed and prescribed exercise and conditioning programs, assisting complex mobility patients re-learn how to mobilize, various mobility equipment setup and provision, reinforce fall prevention strategies, reinforce Physio teaching to patient and family about specific precautions and coordinate with other disciplines to provide patient-centered team-based care in your assigned area.

How Will You Create Impact?
A Rehabilitation Assistant provides support and assistance to deliver meaningful, robust and effective Physiotherapy interventions directly or indirectly with client, through delegation and direction of a licensed Physiotherapist. The support you will provide to the clients in your work area helps provide better individualized care, as well as provide your Physiotherapist the capacity and ability to provide quality assessments for each client.

How Will We Help You Grow?
All new staff are assigned mandatory learning through our online system. A robust orientation of 3 to 5 days is provided, including an introduction to the Physiotherapy team. Opportunities are available for participation in In-services for education and skills development. All staff are also mentored by those on their team and have available ongoing support through their Professional Practice Leader and the Section Heads. Routine interactions, support and learning also happen with the larger Rehabilitation team (other Rehabilitation Assistants and other Allied Health disciplines).

We are looking for new Casual team members who are willing to be flexible and have great people skills. Positive, initiative takers, who bring enthusiasm and energy to their work. Availability is important as Casual positions can and do work up to full time hours. Local travel is required within this role in the surrounding area (between Kelowna General Hospital and Cottonwoods).


• Completion of a recognized, two-year Rehabilitation Assistant Diploma Program.
• Valid Driver’s License as required.


Effective April 1, 2022, hourly rate of pay $28.15.
