Workforce Planning Consultant (WORKSITE LOCATION IS FLEXIBLE)

Position Summary

We have two exciting opportunities for a Workforce Planning Consultant to join our team at Interior Health!

About the role:

In accordance with the established vision and values of the organization and reporting to the Manager, Workforce Management Human Resources, the Workforce Planning Consultant is responsible for analyzing and collecting health human resource data to project future workforce demand and supply. Working within the Interior Health (IH) Planning Framework, the Consultant is responsible for recognizing current and future workforce trends, providing workforce decision support, informing retention and recruitment strategies, identifying innovative staffing practices, and identifying opportunities for improvements in service efficiencies. The Consultant defines report requirements to support department, portfolio, and IH-wide human resource planning activities. In addition, the Consultant recommends tactics to improve internal and external processes to continually optimize the allocation of health human resources and refine staff work processes that enhance high-quality, safe, and effective patient care.

This position can be located anywhere within our health service region.

Some duties of the position:

• As a member of the Health Human Resource Planning and Workforce Optimization Team, assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates organization-wide human resource strategies and procedures.

• In partnership with Health System Planning, contributes to the organization’s vision, mission, values, and goals, by participating in IH’s planning process to support organizational objectives.

• Identifies gaps between current and future workforce needs and recommends tactics to ensure there is an adequate supply of skilled workers in the short- and long-term.

• Identifies and translates business issues into questions that can be answered with data.

• In partnership with the Professional Practice Office, projects future requirements for specialty education and for increased workforce efficiency by optimizing the mix of professional skills.

• Meets with frontline Managers to understand operational requirements and provides them with decision support to determine optimal current and future staffing.

• Develops and establishes definitions to describe workforce data and metrics relevant to departments, portfolios, and IH as a whole.

• Prepares and delivers reports and presentations to Managers, Directors, and Senior Executives as required.

• Assists in the alignment of education planning and recruitment priorities to ensure the workforce is able to deliver effective and efficient care.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience
• A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Information Sciences, Economics, or Information Technology.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis, data interpretation, forecasting models, and data quality management.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, including pivot tables, database functions (SQL), VBA development, graphing, and formulas. Familiarity with data analysis tools for developing reports, creating dashboards, and completing predictive analytics. Experience working with large data sets and analysis methods within a healthcare operations context is preferred.

• Effective interpersonal, facilitation, and educational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management through verbal and written forms.
• Innovative and results-oriented.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

Comments

Starting salary is approximately from 65K to 73K and will be based on education, training and experience
