East Kootenay Regional Hospital (EKRH) is looking to provide employer sponsored training to become a Critical Care Nurse. This in-house program uses the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (ACCN) Essentials of Critical Care Orientation (ECCO) program coordinated by the Interior Health Critical Care and Emergency Networks. If you are an experienced nurse and would like to move into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) department but don’t have formal education, we would love to consider you for paid in-house training.
This training would require an 18-month return of service commitment. There are four components that need to be completed with this Program:
- Theory On-Line Case Based Modules
- Clinical Hours (100)
- Clinical Lab Hours (40)
- Consolidated Preceptorship Hours (292.50).
East Kootenay Regional Hospital is located in Cranbrook, BC, we care for over 80,000 patients a year and provide hospital services to the residents of the East Kootenay region. You will have an opportunity to work with a full complement of internists and surgeons and in conjunction with the Interior Health High Acuity Response Transport Team (HART) regarding critical care transfers both in and out of the outlying regional facilities. We have a new 6 bed ICU and our RNs work 8 or 12-hour shifts.

Education, Training and Experience: Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). **Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 3 years will be required.
