Recreation Therapy Worker

Position Summary

We are presently hiring and looking for a new team member to join our Recreation Therapy Department at Coquihalla Gillis House in Merritt.

Effective April 1, 2023, hourly rate of pay is $28.74 per hour.

Working within a client centered model, the Recreation Therapy Worker works as a member of the interdisciplinary team and is responsible for the implementation and evaluation of an established Recreation Therapy Program.

As the Recreation Therapy Worker you will be primarily working with geriatric residents and short stay clients. This position plans programs and assists in getting residents to/from their programs. Staff go on outings with the residents, facilitate groups specific to the needs of the residents (i.e. social, physical, spiritual, etc.), and one-to-one programs.

This is a permanent part-time 0.59 FTE position working rotating days and evenings with shift times of 12:00 to 20:00 and 07:30 to 15:30.

Qualifications

• Grade 12, completion of a recognized recreation course(s) plus two year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Valid class 4 vehicle license as required
