We are seeking a reliable and motivated Medical Lab Assistant to join our cohesive Lab team within the friendly community of Golden, B.C. This is a casual position with shifts available Mondays through Fridays 08:00-16:00.
The Laboratory Assistant performs a variety of duties within the hospital, such as taking blood samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine lab tests, distributing specimens within the Core Lab and outside Laboratories, operating related equipment, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and performing related clerical duties. Performs ECG testing as required.
The Golden & District Hospital is a Level 1 Community Hospital in the East Kootenay health service area. Located in Golden, east central B.C., the hospital offers services including laboratory, inpatient, obstetrics, and emergency.
Community: Golden is a town of approximately 8,000 residents nestled in the stunning Rocky Mountains and surrounded by 6 national parks. The area offers affordable housing and year round prospects for outdoor enthusiasts. Conveniently situated right on the Trans Canada 1 route, Golden is easily accessible to many locations including Calgary and its’ international airport which is less than 3 hours by car.
Successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program
One year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Valid BC Driver’s License
Ability to type 25 WPM *please upload a copy of an invigilated typing test dated within the last 48mths. Please note we do not accept self-administered online tests*
