Registered Nurse - Perinatal

Position Summary

Interested in joining a nursing team focused on quality patient care? Penticton Regional Hospital’s Perinatal department is a very active and busy unit and we have a relief part time opportunity waiting for you!

As the Perinatal Nurse, you will practice in a perinatal clinical setting and be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of client care. Working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, you will ensure the delivery of client–centered care by assisting individual clients and their families respond to changing health care needs.

Penticton Regional Hospital serves a large geographical area stretching from Summerland to Osoyoos and across to Princeton. We have an active Perinatal Committee that works hard to ensure excellent standards of care.

We are a Regional Hospital that delivers 500-600 babies per year. Our unit is comprised of 4 delivery rooms, 7 postpartum beds and 5 female med-surg beds. We are a unit of RN’s and LPN’s with great team spirit. We work closely with all our maternity care providers including Obstetricians, Pediatricians, Family Physicians and Midwives. We are into year 7 of the moreOb program and are currently participating in a National Quality Improvement Collaborative that will ensure Baby Friendly Designation by 2021.

This is a relief part time position until March 31, 2023 or return of incumbent.

Days of work are rotating and shifts are 07:00-19:00 and 19:00-07:00.

Qualifications

Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Advanced preparation in a Perinatal clinical specialty or an equivalent combination of education & experience.

Current Fetal Health Surveillance.

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NPR) within 2 years.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 3 years.
