Position Summary
If you have advanced nursing skills in the clinical specialty of Perioperative nursing and value a client-centred approach to practice we have Casual employment openings at Penticton Regional Hospital’s Ambulatory Care Department.
This nursing opportunity is working within the Minor Procedures area of the Ambulatory Care Department and is a position responsible for assisting physicians with minor surgical procedures and client care. Days of work will be Monday to Fridays where shifts are scheduled during the Day (i.e. 07:00 to 15:00 hours, 07:30 to 15:30 hours).
The Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) is a 140-bed Acute Care and 102 extended care bed facility in the Okanagan Health Service Area and responsible for providing core medical and surgical specialty services to surrounding population of approximately 90,000 people. The 84-bed David E. Kampe Tower opened in April 2019 offering a new Ambulatory Care Centre that includes three minor procedure rooms, two endoscopy rooms and a cystoscopy room.
Casual employment means work requirements can vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week. Shifts when available will fall within a Day schedule. Casual employees receive 12.6% of their straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, there is option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans. A Casual position may lead into regular employment opportunities, as once hired employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent part-time or full time positions.

Qualifications
• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of the assigned program area as required by the position:
• Completion of recognized post-basic education in perioperative nursing (including theory and practicum in scrub and circulating roles);
• Two years recent related Ambulatory Care experience which includes experience in minor surgical, oncology, and/or medical specialty clinics in an acute care facility, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
