We are seeking Rehabilitation Assistants to join our cohesive Occupational Therapy Kelowna General Hospital and Central Okanagan team. Shifts are rotating through a 7 day workweek and scheduled during the Day. Casual employment means work requirements can vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week; however can anticipate working up to full time hours.
Casual employees receive 12.6% of their straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, there is option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans.
What Will You Work On?
You will be part of a team of clinicians working across the spectrum in Acute Care (i.e. Kelowna General Hospital) and four Long-Term Care (i.e. Cottonwoods Extended Care, Brookhaven Care Centre, Three Links Manor and David Lloyd Jones Home). Work will be available in areas of Cardiac, Orthopedics and Palliative Care. Day to day duties will include ADLs, modalities for wound care, wheel chair maintenance, various equipment provisions, fall prevention, and splinting.
How Will You Create Impact?
A Rehabilitation Assistant provides support to assist and enhance the processes of Occupational Therapists (i.e. interventions). The support you will provide to the clients in your work area will aid the therapists to provide better individualized care ad assessment for each client. The client’s interventions will be much more robust, meaningful and effective with your support.
How Will We Help You Grow?
All new staff are assigned mandatory learning through our online system. A robust orientation 3 to 5 days including introduction to the Occupational Therapists. In-services for education and skill development. All staff are mentored by those on their team and have available support through their Professional Practice Leader. As well as the larger Rehabilitation team.
Who Are We Looking For?
We are looking for new Casual team members who are willing to be flexible, available for full time, and have great people skills. Positive, initiative takers, and brings enthusiasm and energy to their work. Availability is important as Casual positions can and do work up to full time hours. Local travel is required within this role in the surrounding area. Access to personal vehicle will be required; a valid Driver’s License is necessary.
• Completion of a recognized, two-year Rehabilitation Assistant Diploma Program.
• Valid Driver’s License as required.
