Interior Health Authority is urgently seeking a Clinical Psychologist to support mental health clients at the Hillside Psychiatric Centre and South Hills Psychiatric Rehabilitation Centre in Kamloops, B.C.

In accordance with established vision and values of the organization and the College of Psychologists of British Columbia established standards of professional practice, this position is responsible for providing psychological services, including assessment, individual and group therapy, treatment planning and behaviour management interventions for the assigned clinical practice area(s). In addition to direct service provision, the Clinical Psychologist contributes to ongoing quality improvement, program development, evaluation, and research. The position supports a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach to service delivery within the continuum of Allied Health services.
Hillside Centre is a tertiary referral facility with 44 beds providing highly specialized mental health services designed for adults and elderly persons with acute mental illness and/or severely dysfunctional behaviours. This site offers three programs: Neuropsychiatry, Adult Psychiatry, and Geriatric Psychiatry and the focus is on diagnosis and stabilization.
South Hills Centre consists of two – 20 bed units specifically designed for the treatment of adults with serious and persistent symptoms of mental illness. The program is focused on psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery combining empowering principles with practical strategies in facilitating recovery. The goal is to improve the quality of life for individuals by assisting them in functioning as actively and independently in society as possible.
The primary responsibilities of the position will include completing psychodiagnostic assessments, individual therapy, group therapy and providing ongoing education to staff. Both sites strongly support research and evidenced-based practice and there is openness to role development and change within the parameters of the programs.
This is a permanent full-time opportunity. Days of work are Monday to Friday from 08:30-16:30 with weekends and stat holidays off. Ph.D. in Psychology or equivalent from a university or school recognized by the College of Psychologists’ of British Columbia, with an approved pre-doctoral internship in clinical psychology.
Current registration with the College of Psychologists’ of British Columbia (or eligible for registration).
Five years recent related experience in clinical psychology in the assigned clinical practice area(s).
