Interior Health’s East Kootenay Regional Hospital (EKRH) invites applications for the role of Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN).
EKRH is a 77-bed regional referral centre serving over 80,000 people. This hospital offers 24/7 emergency services, a brand new state-of-the-art six bed ICU, a new MRI space along with our four Operating Theatres, Medical Device Reprocessing Department and a separate expanded Ambulatory Care and Surgical Daycare Centre. As a member of the EKRH Operating Room team, you will coordinate and oversee the overall care of the client and set priorities, provide clinical expertise and leadership for the plan of care, plan and implement health care treatments and interventions, and assign and delegate tasks as appropriate to other members of the healthcare team.
Casual employment means work requirements can vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week. Shifts when offered will fall on Days (07:15 to 15:15, 10:00 to 18:00, 11:00 to 19:00), Evenings (15:00 to 23:00) or Nights (23:00 to 07:15). Casual employees receive 12.6% of their straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, there is option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans.

EKRH Operating Room Department: There are four Operating Room Theatres including a new Urology suite which is supported by Pre-Surgical Screening, OR Booking, Surgical Day Care area and a 5 bed PACU. EKRH provides services in general surgery, urology (laser), gynecology/obstetrics, ENT (laser), dental and orthopedics. In addition there is cystoscopy, endoscopy, and cataract surgery. We are a team who likes to work and play in our own backyard. Educational and recruitment opportunities are ad hoc and based on necessity.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of Peri-operative Nursing.
• One year recent related clinical experience in the assigned practice environment on an operating room similar in size and scope to the facility or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Effective April 1, 2021, hourly rates are pay are $36.23 (Step 1) to $47.58 (Step 9).
