Interior Health is seeking a Relief Part-time (.68 FTE) Medical Laboratory Assistant to join its team at Cariboo Memorial Hospital.
This position works in a team based environment and performs a variety of of duties within the Laboratory such as taking blood samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine lab tests, distributing specimens to Laboratory departments and outside Laboratories, operating related equipment, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and performing related clerical duties. Performs ECG testing as required. Shifts will vary among Days and Evenings with rotating days off. Shift times are 06:00 to 14:00; 06:30 to 14:30; 07:15 to 15:15; 08:30 to 16:30; 09:15 to 17:15; 12:00 to 20:00

Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program, plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid Class 5 BC Drivers License.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

Ability to operate related equipment.
